1. Overview

• provides access to metadata, data, visualizations, and data services related to Earth's radiation belt;
• develops SPASE metadata for radiation belt data sets;
• hosts web pages and presentation documents associated with radiation belt-related science meetings and workshops;
• makes significant contributions to the Autoplot software visualization project [1];
• is developing web-browsable Gallery Views of data sets relevant to radiation belt science [2];
• is working closely with members of the RBSP mission presentations/2012RBSPSOC;
• has made many new data sets available online, e.g.,
  • Data from a ULF index derived from ground magnetometer measurements (Augsburg/ULF);
  • Reprocessed measurements from the Polar satellite (Polar);
  • Data from the MES instrument on S3-3 (S33);
  • Data from the EXP instrument on HEO-1 and HEO-3 (HEO);
  • Data for input to the Tsyganenko 2001, 2004, and 2005 magnetic field models (QinDenton); and
  • Data from the CEASE instrument on TSX-5 (Aerospace/TSX5);
• has made many high-value existing data sets of interest to radiation belt scientists easier to use
  • Data from geomagnetic indices derived from the AMIE model (SPIDR/AMIE); and
  • Data from the SEM-1, SEM-2, and TED instruments on the POES series satellites (POES).

2. Points of collaboration with MAARBLE

• All of the above developments may be of interest to the MAARBLE group.
• MAARBLE will produce several new databases of high science value to the radiation belt community.
• ViRBO is interested in making these data
  • easy to find (by creating SPASE metadata records that describe key aspects of their data products when they become finalized), and
  • easy to explore (by creating either Autoplot plug-ins or Galleries of finalized data products).
